24GHz Doppler Radar Sensor 1-240km/h Mmwave Radar

LDTR20VDA speed radar is a millimeter-wave radar module integrating a microstrip antenna, a radio frequency circuit and a signal processing circuit, which directly outputs the speed information of the target.

1. Long Detection Range
Detects vehicles beyond 180 meters, ideal for highways and high-speed road monitoring.

2. High-Precision Speed Measurement
Achieves ≤ ±1 km/h accuracy across a wide range of 1 to 240 km/h.

3. Wide Coverage Angle
Horizontal ±20° beam width covers more than 4 lanes, reducing the need for multiple sensors.

4. Ultra-Low Power Consumption
Consumes only ≤50mA at 12V, suitable for solar-powered or remote installations.

5. Flexible Integration
Supports RS485, UART, and direct alarm outputs for easy connection to speed signs, cameras, or controllers.

Application

It can be used for long-distance vehicle speed measurement max 180 meters. It adopts an integrated radio frequency chip, with extremely high frequency stability and a speed measurement accuracy of 1KM/h.

How far can this radar reliably detect a car on the highway?
Up to 180 meters or more, depending on vehicle size and road conditions.
Is the radar affected by rain or fog?
Minimally. Millimeter-wave signals penetrate rain and fog much better than laser or infrared.
Can I mount it behind a plastic bumper or sign?
Yes, but only if the material is radar-transparent (avoid metal, carbon fiber, or metallic paint).
What happens if two vehicles are side by side in adjacent lanes?
The radar detects the strongest reflected signal. The wide ±20° horizontal beam covers multiple lanes, and the output represents the nearest or fastest target.
How do I know which direction a vehicle is moving?
The serial output shows "V+" for approaching and "V-" for receding.
Can I connect this radar directly to a speed display sign?
Yes. The radar outputs both serial data (RS485/UART) and direct pulse signals for triggering external devices.
My installation location has heavy truck vibrations. Will that cause false readings?
The radar includes an adjustable vibration filter (0x00–0x70) to suppress false triggers from mechanical vibration.
What is the smallest speed it can measure?
1 km/h. Speeds below the configured lower limit are ignored to prevent noise.
Does the radar need a clear line of sight?
Yes. Any strong reflector (water, metal, dense obstacles) in front of the antenna will severely reduce detection range.
Can I use this radar for both approaching and receding traffic at the same time?
Yes. By default, it detects both directions. You can also configure it to detect only approaching or only receding.
